As we age, there’s quantity of skin issues we face (saggy or excess skin) and there’s “quality” of skin issues. Quality of skin refers to the fine-line wrinkles, crepey areas, rough patches, discoloration, and acne scarring, typically caused by years of sun exposure, smoking, poor nutrition, stress, and the natural aging process. The result is our skin can look dull, less vibrant, and older than we would like. Many people who are now in their 50s, 60s and 70s are finding that the passing years have led to a breakdown of their facial skin and supportive tissue, resulting in the quality of their skin having a less vibrant and older appearance.

Dr. Smyth understands that beautiful skin is “in”. As a sought-after facial laser treatment specialist for more than 30 years, Dr. Smyth knows that the happiest patients are those whose results include a naturally refreshed and beautifully alive look to their skin. He performs the latest in face laser skin resurfacing for rejuvenation of the skin that reduces or eliminates:

Facial Laser Treatment

Also known as laser skin resurfacing, this in-office procedure is basically a safe injury made to the skin using pulses of heat energy. The goal is to go just deep enough with the laser to send your skin into repair mode, which means the stimulation of collagen and blood supply to generate new skin development.

Facial laser treatment can be done to the entire face or to specific areas only, such as the fine lines around the mouth or under the eyes. Dr. Smyth uses a CO2 fractional laser –– advanced technology that emits heat energy in an intermittent pattern to generate remarkable results while being less invasive and faster to heal than some other lasers.

Dr. Smyth numbs the areas being treated with a topical cream followed by Lidocaine to alleviate any major discomfort. Most patients describe the laser treatment after numbing the area not as painful but as “quick, snapping pulsations” on their face.
Allow 7-10 days for your skin to heal after a facial laser treatment.
